Aups

This charming village in the Haut-Var is known for its black truffles, olive oil, honey and fine wines. The originally medieval village, surrounded by olive trees, vineyards, vast forests and mountains, has a unique location at about 500 meters altitude. This allows you to enjoy the pleasant Provencal climate with plenty of sunshine and warmth during the day, and the nights, even in summer, are pleasantly cool.

In summer Aups is bustling on the many terraces in the center. Throughout the year there are traditional Provencal markets on Wednesday and Saturday, and in the months November to February there is a truffle market every Thursday.

In the centre of Aups there are several small supermarkets, bakers, butchers, a seafood shop and a fruit and vegetable shop. A large supermarket (Intermarche) is located on the road to Salernes, about 1 kilometre from the center.

The Lac du St. Croix with many beaches and the breathtaking Gorges du Verdon are located at approximately 15 minutes by car. Surrounding places include Draguignan, Salernes, Barjols, Villecroze, Sillans la Cascade or TourTour. Popular places such as Frejus, Nice, Marseille, Aix and Provence and St. Tropez can be reached within 1 to 2 hours.
