Aups
Charming, originally medieval village in the Haut-Var, known for its black truffles, olive oil, honey and delicious wines.
The area is surrounded by mountains and has a unique location at around 500 metres above sea level. As a result, you can enjoy the pleasant Provençal climate with plenty of sunshine and warmth during the day, and the nights are comfortably cool, even in summer.
In summer, Aups is buzzing with activity on the many terraces in the centre. Throughout the year, there are traditional Provencal markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and a truffle market every Thursday from November to February.
In the centre of Aups there are several small supermarkets, bakers, butchers, a fish shop and a fruit and vegetable shop. A large supermarket (Intermarche) is located on the road to Salernes, about 1 kilometre from the centre.
About 15 minutes by car are Lac du St. Croix with many beaches and the breathtaking Gorges du Verdon.
